Thomas J. Rode, grew up in Wilmington, N.C., and attended the North Carolina State University before graduating magna cum laude from Charleston School of Law.
After law school Thomas served as a law clerk to the Honorable Paula H. Thomas of the South Carolina Court of Appeals in Columbia. Returning to Charleston he began his career in private practice with the Savage Law Firm before joining Thurmond Kirchner & Timbes, P.A., in 2013. Thomas practices in the firm’s civil litigation group in which he represents clients in a variety of cases including business disputes, mechanic’s liens, contract disputes, and electronic surveillance/wiretapping. His practice includes representing homeowner’s associations, horizontal property regimes, and landowners in condemnation matters, as well as representing clients in appellate proceedings. Thomas has represented clients in both state and federal Courts as well as in the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of South Carolina.
A member of the South Carolina Bar Association and the Charleston County Bar Association, Thomas has also served as an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and before the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and was named a 2018 Super Lawyers Rising Star.
Thomas and his wife, Julie Moore Rode, live in West Ashley with their son Charlie and two wire-haired dachshunds, Howie and Omar.
